Ride #3: Progress!

Yesterday I rode Panama again, for our third ride this year (and our third ride after our long break).  It was a good ride and I was very pleased!  No pictures today, though.

We rode with a friend, and Pan was very excited to be riding with another horse, especially this particular horse -- they are both playful horses, and they very much wanted to play.  Panama was good though, and held it together.

We did much the same as our other rides, just walked and trotted.  I'm still holding off cantering until I feel he's a little stronger.  I noticed some improvements this time though, and it gives me hope that both of us will improve quickly if I can keep up the frequent rides.

We rode outside, where unfortunately the footing is a little deeper, so it makes Panama work harder -- he really has to pick his feet up!  Our first ride out there, on Sunday, I noticed he quickly got fatigued.  When he gets tired, I can tell because his trot starts feeling choppy and uneven.

Well, yesterday it took much longer for him to start getting tired and uncoordinated.  Progress!  I also didn't feel sore at all after all of our trotting (and my posting), which bodes well for my rehab, too.

For the most part I've been trying to ride him every other day, in case he's sore in between rides, but today we'll be riding again.  I'm picking up V. this afternoon and taking her riding, like we did last Sunday.

Riding with V. is nice, especially since I'm not taking care of her and her brother anymore.  It's good to spend some time with her, and it's also good for Rondo to be ridden a little more frequently.  (I also have a leaser, H., who rides him once a week.)

I have all kinds of other news, but that will have to wait for another post.  In the meantime, I have some work to do before I pick up V.!
