Barn chores and riding challenges: Win some, lose some

I think I can officially say that I've failed the summer horsemanship challenge.  To be honest, I knew when I signed up for it that it was a stretch, especially during the summer when I was at my busiest.  However, they are planning on having a fall version, so perhaps I'll have better luck then!

Despite having failed to ride, I've been at the barn plenty.  It's hard to believe it, but I've been doing chores there for two full weeks now!  I'm already developing a routine and the work isn't as difficult or as time consuming as I'd expected.

I have one more tough week, but after that, I'm hoping my new schedule will start working in my favor.

I'm planning to start doing my barn chores during the day, for one thing.  It'll mean I won't have the leisurely day of freelancing from home until I have to pick up the kids from school, but that's okay.  I'm also hoping that being out at the barn every weekday during the day will help encourage me to ride more often.  I'd like to be riding three times a week at minimum.

I'll also need to make time for one other job -- helping my disabled client, who was recently diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's, several times a week for an hour or two at a time -- and of course for my freelancing.  Hopefully there's also some room in all of that for and my personal writing and projects, too.

Well, I can only wait until my fall schedule kicks in, and then develop a routine as I go.  Only one more week -- I can do it!
