Horse happenings

I just realized it's been over a month since I posted last!  I actually was riding more often for part of that, but then I moved and ended up spending more time on unpacking and organizing and similar stuff.

I have a few exciting horse happenings to report, though.

First and most exciting, I've joined a Facebook challenge that starts tomorrow night, at 11pm on July 4th.  It's the 2015 8 Week Summer Horsemanship Challenge.  The goal is to ride 25 times in eight weeks (at least four of them bareback), spend at least 40 hours total with your horse (grooming, riding, or even just hanging out), and teach your horse one new skill.  If you're interested, you have to join by tomorrow evening, so don't delay!

I've also been taking a few lessons here and there, which has made for a good refresher for both me and Panama.  We've achieved some nice balance and lightness, and I think it's been good for us.  Our new trainer has been setting up cone courses for us, too, and I think Panama really enjoys the challenge.  He's always been very smart, and likes having something more to think about than just riding on the rail.

I'm not sure if we'll end up going to any shows this summer, as we would have to have a ride in order to go, but I'm more focused right now in us riding more often and working on some of the skills we've neglected in the past year or two.

How is everyone else?  I've missed the blogging community!

I was just thinking about you the other day wondering how you were doing. I can't do horse challenges in the summer. My challenge would have to be more along the lines of feed and clean up manure twice a day without passing out.

They did a challenge in the winter or spring, I think, NM. I'll be sure to post about it next time, so that if they have another one during a cooler season, you can participate! It would be fun to do it together!

I'm doing well. I've been really busy, though -- hence the ignored blogs.
