Back in the saddle

I had a riding lesson on Tuesday, my first riding lesson -- not to mention my first time really riding -- since I'd been sick.  I wasn't sure how my body would react to the exertion, and sure enough, my endurance wasn't quite back up to what it was, and I was dead tired in the evening, far more tired than I normally would have been after a lesson.

A vacation and a visitor

The kids are on spring break, so I'm off work for the next week or so.  It's good timing, considering I've been sick lately -- and since I think it's mono, it may take some time before I'm feeling 100 percent again.  My sore throat finally started to improve, and my swollen glands have gone down a little, but I'm still pretty tired a lot of the time, even when I've had a lot of sleep.

A rough winter

This winter has been a rough one for me and my horses.  We've had a lot of really cold weather in Colorado -- single digits and below zero kind of cold -- and of course, like much of the rest of the country, lots of snow.  Although my barn has an indoor arena, really cold is still really cold, indoor arena or not... and of course, I still have to fetch my horses from an outdoor corral and tack up in semi-outdoor cross ties.
