A beautiful day for a riding lesson

Yesterday was V.'s riding lesson on Rondo.  It was a beautiful afternoon, although the wind picked up during the course of her lesson.

The weather has been up in the 60s and even the 70s the last few days.  After the cold winter we had, it's been really nice!  We're supposed to be getting a typical springtime-in-Colorado snowstorm on Sunday, though: After it being in the 70s today and tomorrow, it's supposed to be 30s on Sunday, with 4 to 8 inches of snow forecast.

I decided to ride Panama during V.'s lesson, although I usually end up doing more sitting on Panama than riding him, as I don't like to get in her way during her lessons.  I also like to try to get some pictures and video when I'm able.

Rondo is such a good boy, but he also -- like any horse -- has figured out what he can get away with when he has a kid on his back.  V. isn't nearly assertive enough, especially with her legs, and yesterday he was experimenting with going around the cavaletti instead of jumping them.  After she let him do the exact same thing three times in a row, our trainer got on him and fixed the problem (so that he didn't continue to learn bad habits), and after that he didn't try it again.

He still loves her, though, even if she gets him into trouble sometimes!

He's such an affectionate horse.  You can't tell in the picture, but he actually offers his nose for kisses.  He'll put it right up to your mouth.

The rest of V.'s lesson went really well.  I love that it doesn't get dark until long after her lesson now -- if she hadn't had so much homework yesterday, we probably would have ridden together for a little while longer after her lesson ended.  It was a gorgeous evening!

I do love my boys -- both my boys!
