A vacation and a visitor

The kids are on spring break, so I'm off work for the next week or so.  It's good timing, considering I've been sick lately -- and since I think it's mono, it may take some time before I'm feeling 100 percent again.  My sore throat finally started to improve, and my swollen glands have gone down a little, but I'm still pretty tired a lot of the time, even when I've had a lot of sleep.

I am hoping to start feeling well enough to get out to the barn a few times while I'm off, especially since the weather is getting better at last.  (Today was in the upper 60s, although for the most part it's still only 40s and 50s, with a chance of some snow this weekend.)  I'm not sure how much energy I'll have for it, though, so just to be on the safe side I put off today's riding lesson until next week.

I'm also watching the kids' puppy while they're gone, so until I know how he's going to do when he's left on his own for long periods, I'm not planning on being gone during the day a whole lot.  He's almost a year, though, so he's considerably more mature now than he was when he stayed with us last summer.  He's a cute little guy, and a lot of fun.  Our youngest cat, Izzy the former barn kitten, has been playing with him a lot today.

Other than my plans with the animals, I'm planning on getting some planning done in preparation for working on my novel during Camp NaNoWriMo in April, as well as some other administrative-type tasks at home, such as cleaning my office and doing our taxes.  Some of that may not sound very vacation-like, but trust me, it's a luxury to have a whole week to do stuff like that!
